The epic sequel to the hugely popular Baahubali: The Beginning, which details the journey of Shiva to Baahubali, picks up right where the first part left off. Shiva has learnt about his heritage, and we begin to learn the story of his father Amarendra Baahubali.
Amarendra has been chosen by the Queen Sivagami to become the King of the Mahishmati kingdom. While touring the kingdom disguised as a commoner to get to know the people, he meets princess Devasena and gets impressed by her beauty and bravery. The two start to develop feelings for each other.
When a proposal is sent by Sivagami to Devasena, she refuses to get wooed by gifts. Baahubali misunderstands this to be a proposal for his marriage, but it turns out to be a proposal for his brother Bhallaladeva. Devasena’s refusal angers Sivagami, and she orders the princess to be captured. Baahubali accompanies Devasena and the truth about their love is revealed. In order to honour the vow Sivagami made to Bhallaladeva about his marriage to Devasena, Baahubali decides to cede his throne to Bhallaladeva.
What follows is a big twist where the biggest secret is revealed – why did Katappa kill Baahubali? And why did Sivagami have to give her life to save Baahubali’s child Shiva?
